The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for... S of Cape Lookout NC to Surf City NC out to 20 NM...

* Until 430 PM EDT.

* At 325 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located near Surf City, moving east at 15 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and small hail.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include... New River Inlet, Ar340, Ar342, Bogue Inlet, Ar355, The Vicinity Of Emerald Isle Bridge, Ar345, and Emerald Isle.
