At 907 PM MDT, US 89 has closed at milepost 166-176 due to debris flows reaching the Highway from multiple drainages originating from heavy rain over the Cottonwood burn scar in Piute County. Flash flooding is already occurring.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the City Creek, Ten Mile, and Cottonwood creeks. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Cottonwood burn scar in Piute County and points downstream to HW 89 between milepost 166-176.
