The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... The Forsyth burn scar in... Central Washington County in southwestern Utah...
* Until 315 PM MDT.
* At 1218 PM MDT, Emergency management reported heavy rain over the Forsyth Burn Scar, and river gauges are rising rapidly along the Santa Clara River. Between 1.25 and 2.25 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding in and around the Forsyth Burn Scar.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Forsyth Burn Scar.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Pine Valley.
This includes Utah Route 18 between mile markers 26 and 27.

Instructions

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches in the Forsyth Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to safety.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
