Flood Advisory

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following counties, Bland, Giles and Tazewell and southeast West Virginia, including the following county, Mercer.

* WHEN...Until 915 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 614 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Dismal Creek, East River, East Wilderness Creek, Cecil Branch, Crab Orchard Creek, East Fork Cove Creek, Bluestone River and Big Spring Branch. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Bluefield...
