The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northern Garrett County in western Maryland...

* Until 600 AM EDT.

* At 412 AM EDT, Emergency management reports an ongoing water rescue in the vicinity of the Casselman River and Bittinger Road. Several homes have also been reported to have flooded basements between Grantsville and Bittinger. Between 1.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.25 to 0.5 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
