At 515 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles north of Durham, moving southeast at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
Locations impacted include... Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, RDU International, Morrisville, Eno River State Park, Gorman, and William B Umstead State Park.
This includes the following highways... Interstate 85 between Mile Markers 163 and 184. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 259 and 262, between Mile Markers 268 and 270, and between Mile Markers 275 and 286. Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 0 and 11. the Durham Freeway between Mile Markers 2 and 17.
