English River at Kalona affecting Johnson and Washington Counties.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring.

* WHERE...English River at Kalona.

* WHEN...Until early Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Water has overtopped roads causing closures. This includes 130th St, Kiwi Ave, Orange Ave and Poplar Ave. Extensive agricultural land near the river is flooded. Water begins backing into town on the north side of the river.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 17.8 feet and steady. - The river is near crest now. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
