Coastal Flood Warning

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to 12 feet in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood Warning, one to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.

* WHERE...Kings (Brooklyn) and Southern Queens Counties.

* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Saturday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Saturday evening. For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 6 PM this evening to 6 PM EDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront. Numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Flooding will occur over multiple high tide cycles tonight through Sunday. The worst flooding is expected with the Saturday morning high tide cycle.
