* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Koyukuk River and Slate Creek along the Dalton Highway from Coldfoot north to Atigun Pass.
* WHEN...Until 1000 AM AKDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected. River or stream flows are elevated. Significant runoff may cause flooding of creeks and rivers. Possible isolated landslides in areas of steep terrain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 900 AM AKDT, river gauge reports indicate rises in water levels from heavy rain across the advisory area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible.
- If you live or travel near or along Middle Fork of the Koyukuk River and its tributaries, stay alert and be prepared to take action. As of 8:00 am Monday, Alaska DOT reports a landslide has closed the Dalton Highway around mile marker 230 about 55 miles north of Coldfoot. Check 511.alaska.gov or call 5 1 1 for the latest travel information.
- Some locations that could experience flooding include Chandalar DOT Camp, Atigun Pass, Wiseman and Coldfoot.
- For Slate Creek at Coldfoot: At 8:00am Monday the stage was 18.7 feet. Flood Stage is 18.7 feet. Forecast: A crest around 18.7 feet is expected around 10:00am Monday.
- For Middle Fork of the Koyukuk River at Wiseman: At 8:00am Monday the stage was 10.9 feet. Flood Stage is 11.5 feet. Forecast: A crest around 11.7 feet is expected around 4:00pm Monday. Typically the Koyukuk River at Wiseman crests 6 to 8 hours after Slate Creek crests.
