Red Flag Warning

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect until 10 PM AKDT Sunday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Middle Yukon Valley and Lower Yukon and Innoko Valleys.

* TIMING...Until 10 PM AKDT Sunday.

* THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Numerous.

* WINDS...Near thunderstorms, gusts could reach as high as 40 mph.

* HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the mid 80s. Lows in the upper 40s.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected this weekend due to a combination of thunderstorm activity, temperatures reaching into the upper 70s to low 80s, relative humidities near 30 percent, and gusty winds.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Thunderstorms still looks to be the most active across the southwestern portion of our region, with a focus from McGrath north toward Galena.
