At 815 AM CDT, department of transportation and emergency management reported flash flooding across the warned area, specifically along portions of US Highway 377 and State Highway 55 in Edwards County. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Rocksprings, Carta Valley, Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area, Devils River State Nat Area Big Satan, Devils Shores, Pafford Crossing, Rough Canyon Recreation Area and Spur 406 Campground.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
