For the following areas... Pamlico Sound...
At 353 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 7 nm west of Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, or 10 nm southwest of Oregon Inlet. The severe thunderstorm was nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
Locations impacted include... Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge and Rodanthe.
