The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for... Lake Erie from Silver Creek to Buffalo...

* Until 315 AM EDT.

* At 147 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located over Wanakah, or 24 nm northeast of Dunkirk, moving east at 35 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include... Small Boat Harbor, Lake Erie Beach, Wanakah, Woodlawn Beach, Erie Basin Marina, Sturgeon Point, Athol Springs, Bayview, and Sunset Bay.
