Details

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood Statement, isolated minor coastal flooding.
* WHERE...North, south, and west facing reefs of Tinian and Saipan.
* WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Some water on low lying roads and property. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated swells emanating from the southwesterly monsoon surge and Typhoon Choi-wan (26W) to the north will allow advisory-level surf and a high risk of rip currents to continue longer than previously anticipated. The Coastal Flood Watch has been upgraded to a Coastal Flood Statement as minor coastal flooding is expected.

Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
