At 420 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms capable of producing a waterspout near Atlantic Beach. These storms were nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include... Morehead City, North River, Pine Knoll Shores, Wildwood, Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve, Fort Macon State Park, Michael J Smith Airport, Oceana Pier, Crab Point Village, and Mitchell Village.
