At 4:02 p.m. NDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to quarter size hail and heavy rain.
Locations: southern Avalon Peninsula.
Rainfall rates: locally 15 to 25 mm per hour in thunderstorms.
Time span: until late this evening.
Remarks: An area of thunderstorms is moving across the Avalon Peninsula this evening. The main threat is very heavy rain, but some small hail and strong wind gusts may also occur locally.
Local rainfall totals could range between 40 and 60 mm by midnight tonight.
