At 5:00 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, loonie to ping pong ball size hail and very heavy rain.
Thunderstorm Location: From areas west of Ottawa to northwest of Gatineau.
Motion: Moving southeastward near 40 km/h
Hazards: Wind: damaging (90 - 110 km/h) Hail: up to toonie size (up to 3 cm) Rain: 30 to 60 mm locally
Discussion: A line of thunderstorms will move from west to east across the regions late this afternoon. 73 millimeters of rain has been reported at the Ottawa International Airport and may receive near 100 millimeters by this evening due to this new line of thunderstorms.
