At 7:00 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, loonie to ping pong ball size hail and extremely heavy rain.
Thunderstorm Location: From areas west of Ottawa to south of Ottawa.
Motion: Moving southeastward or eastward near 40 km/h
Hazards: Wind: damaging (90 - 110 km/h) Hail: up to toonie size (up to 3 cm) Rain: 75 mm and locally near 175 mm near southern sections of Ottawa near the Ottawa International Airport or just west of the airport
Discussion: A line of thunderstorms will move from west to east across the regions and continue early this evening. 110 millimeters of rain has been reported at the Ottawa International Airport and may receive total amounts near 125 millimeters by this evening due to several thunderstorms. Yet another line of thunderstorms this evening may give totals west to south of Ottawa of 175 to 200 millimetres.
