Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.
Potential rainfall rates: locally 20 to 30 mm per hour in thunderstorms.
Time span: until this evening.
Remarks: An area of thunderstorms over western Newfoundland is moving eastward into the interior. Some of these storms may become severe, producing locally torrential downpours.
Small hail may also accompany the strongest storms.
