At 1041 PM MDT, Although rainfall rates are decreasing, doppler radar indicates additional showers will continue to move into the warned area. Up to 3 inches of rain have fallen, and additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. The risk for flash flooding continues.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Clovis, Portales, Texico, Dora, Causey, Cannon Air Force Base, Ranchvale, Oasis State Park, Arch and Broadview.
This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 381 and 397.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
