At 1038 PM MDT, Although heavy rainfall has currently let up, doppler radar indicated additional showers moving toward the warned area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen, and additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. The risk for flash flooding continues.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Portales, Melrose, Elida, Grady, Saint Vrain, Tolar, Ranchvale, Kenna and Wheatland.
This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 344 and 380.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
