A Tropical Storm Warning means damaging winds of 39 mph or more are imminent or will occur shortly.
For those under a warning, continue to shelter in place. The time for preparations has passed.
.STORM INFORMATION... At 11 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Storm Higos (08W) was located near latitude 14.6N...longitude 145.6E. This was about 95 miles northeast of Guam, or 25 miles south of Tinian. Storm motion was west-northwest, 285 degrees, at 11 mph. Storm intensity was 40 mph.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW... TS Higos has formed south of Tinian and is moving west-northwest. Residents should expect damaging winds of 39 mph or more to continue until the storm has moved sufficiently far away, which is when the warning will be cancelled. Even if the sustained tropical storm force winds remain currently offshore, if the system develops faster than expected, as been the case over the last 18 hours, the expanding wind field of tropical storm force wind could envelop Tinian and Saipan.
