Coastal Flood Warning

* WHAT...1 to 2 ft, locally 2 1/2 ft, of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. The highest water levels are likely with the Sunday midday high tides.

* WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern Fairfield and Southern New Haven Counties. In New York, Southern Westchester County.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT Sunday.

* COASTAL IMPACTS...Minor to moderate flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect 1 to 2 ft, locally 2 1/2 ft, of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

* SHOREFRONT/BEACH IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 3 to 5 ft, along with elevated water levels, will result in dune erosion with damage to a few waterfront structures across southeast and east facing shorelines. Splashover over seawalls and overwashes where dune structures are compromised may locally exacerbate flooding of roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective dunes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional rounds of minor coastal flooding are possible for the Sunday night into early next week high tides.
