The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for... Waters from Little River Inlet SC to South Santee River SC from 20 to 60 NM... Waters from Surf City NC to Little River Inlet SC from 20 to 60 NM...

* Until 1215 AM EDT.

* At 1110 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 14 nm southeast of Sunset Mid Shelf Buoy, moving east at 10 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.
