The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... The Rio Grande between Rincon and Leasburg Dam and the Rincon Arroyo in northern Dona Ana County in New Mexico...
* Until 1130 PM MDT.
* At 642 PM MDT, river gauge reports indicate flooding on the Rio Grande at Hayner's Bridge near Rincon. Gauges also indicate Rincon Arroyo remains flooded.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Gauges reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, and rivers.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Rincon, Angostura, Rinconcito, Peaceful Valley, Selden Canyon, and Radium Springs.
The Rio Grande gauge at Hayner's Bridge near Rincon 10.8 feet, with a flow of 6,250 cfs. This will result in flooding downstream on the Rio Grande in locations not protected by levees. Expect flooding to impact portions of Highway 185, especially near the old Martinez Arena at mile marker 22.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
