* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Western Kane County in southern Utah... East Central Washington County in southwestern Utah...
* WHEN...Until 100 AM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 852 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in Heaps Canyon due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. Additional showers will continue overnight, resulting in continued elevated flows and flooding of area canyons, washes, creeks, streams, etc. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
