.Much of the Turkey River Basin from Garber upstream through Spillville received 2 to 5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. The latest forecasts brings the crest at Elkader lower due to lower forecast precipitation amounts this evening as well as a slower routing from upstream locations. Much of the uncertainty in these river forecasts stems from uncertainty in how fast the water will flow downstream with time.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Turkey River at Garber.
* WHEN...Until Monday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, The earthen levee at Elkport is threatened, just upstream of Garber.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:15 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 19.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 2:15 PM CDT Saturday was 19.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.9 feet just after midnight tonight.
