...The Flood Warning is extended for the following river and locations in Illinois...Indiana...
Wabash River at Terre Haute, Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site, and Montezuma.
.Heavy to extreme rainfall over east-central, southeast, and west central Indiana since the middle of last week is currently causing both moderate and minor flooding on the Wabash River.
Rainfall today up to four inches fell in the upper Wabash drainage area, and the showers and thunderstorms producing the heavy rain are expected to continue through the night, slowly dropping south with time.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Wabash River at Riverton.
* WHEN...Until Saturday, August 29.
* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Flooding becomes more serious. Water is approaching critical levels on most levees. Flooding enters some river cabins. Flooding is at the outskirts of Palestine and Russellville, Illinois. Flood waters near Illinois 33 between Palestine and Hutsonville, Illinois. Many local river roads are flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 PM EDT Wednesday /9:00 PM CDT Wednesday/ the stage was 18.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:00 PM EDT Wednesday /9:00 PM CDT Wednesday/ was 18.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 22.1 feet Sunday evening.
