...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR SOUTHWESTERN COLORADO AND SOUTHEASTERN UTAH FOR AREAS AROUND ONGOING WILDFIRES...
Several large wildfires developed across the region yesterday and exhibited extreme wildfire behavior. Atmospheric conditions are on track to be similar today as yesterday, and thus rapid wildfire spread will again be possible. The most concerning conditions are generally located near current wildfires, but any new wildfire development will also be capable of extreme behavior.
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels, which is in effect from noon today to 10 PM MDT this evening.
* THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR SOUTHWESTERN COLORADO AND SOUTHEASTERN UTAH.
* AFFECTED AREA...In Colorado, Fire Weather Zone 291 Northern San Juan Forecast Area.
* TIMING...From noon today to 10 PM MDT this evening.
* WINDS...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Extreme fire danger is expected. Fires will spread uncontrollably and could be very destructive.
