An active monsoon pattern will continue to bring scattered to numerous, locally heavy, showers and isolated to scattered thunderstorms across portions of Yap State through this evening. Frequent lightning, wind gusts to 30 knots, and choppy seas can be expected with thunderstorms. Inter-island travel will be hazardous through at least this evening. Then, a relative lull in shower coverage is expected after midnight as showers and thunderstorms weaken. However, shower and thunderstorm coverage is expected to increase once again on Wednesday with locally heavy rainfall expected. Due to saturated conditions, mudslides will be possible where the heaviest rain occurs. Residents across Yap State should monitor local forecasts and heed advice of emergency managers when heavy rainfall occurs.
