.STORM INFORMATION... At 1 PM ChST, the center of Super Typhoon Bavi (09W) was located near latitude 14.5N, longitude 144.4E. This was about 80 miles north-northwest of Guam. Storm motion was west-northwest, 285 degrees, at 13 mph. Storm intensity was 175 mph.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW... The eye of Super Typhoon Bavi (09W) is departing western Rota waters, moving west-northwest at 13 mph. Bavi is forecast to weaken slightly through tonight, however, remaining at Category 5 strength through Wednesday as it continues to pull away from the Marianas. With this, winds will gradually decrease across the islands, however, tropical storm force conditions are expected to continue overnight, departing sometime in the early morning hours. Although the threat of sustained typhoon force winds is rapidly diminishing, frequent typhoon force gusts continue to be felt.
Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 70 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 310 miles.
