Wabash River at Montezuma, Covington, Terre Haute, Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site, and Riverton.
.Rounds of heavy rain has dumped between 2.50 inches and 5.25 inches of precipitation along the Wabash River over the past 48 hours, ending at 8 AM EDT this morning. This is bringing flooding to most of the Wabash River. At this point in time, all forecast crests are expected to be below moderate flood stage.
Additional rain, on and off, into the new work week is in store, which likely will prolong and possibly worsen flooding.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Wabash River at Riverton.
* WHEN...From Saturday afternoon to Saturday, August 22.
* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Extensive lowland flooding is in progress. High water surrounds many river cabins. Access to most river cabins is by boat only. Levees begin to protect farmland. Extensive flooding of Leaverton Park occurs in Palestine, Illinois.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM EDT Friday /9:00 AM CDT Friday/ the stage was 6.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 17.4 feet Wednesday evening.
