...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR EAST FACING SHORES TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT...
.Medium-period swell generated by Tropical Storm Lala will begin to quickly build tonight as it reaches advisory criteria. By Saturday morning, east facing surf for the Big Island increases to warning criteria. Surf peaks on Saturday several feet above the warning threshold for the Big Island and rapidly decreases Saturday night. For Maui, surf peaks late Saturday into Saturday night near the warning threshold and rapidly diminishes by Sunday.
* WHAT...For the Big Island, dangerously large surf increasing from 8 to 12 feet tonight to 15 to 20 feet on Saturday. For Maui, dangerously large surf increasing from 7 to 10 feet tonight to 10 to 15 feet on Saturday.
* WHERE...East facing shores of Maui and Big Island.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM HST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...High. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful currents. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make navigating the channels dangerous.
