The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... The Cottonwood Burn scar in Piute County in... Southwestern Piute County in central Utah...

* Until 545 PM MDT.

* At 242 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Cottonwood Burn scar in Piute County, with the heaviest rain falling over City Creek. Between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the City Creek downstream to HW 89 between mile posts 166 and 167 north of Junction. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Cottonwood Burn scar in Piute County.
