The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for... West Central Piute County in central Utah...
* Until 515 PM MDT.
* At 314 PM MDT, emergency management reported a debris flow from the Cottonwood burn scar from Gold Gulch across US-89 near mile post 175. UDOT reported US-89 was closed in both directions at this mile post. Between 0.3 and 0.6 inches of rain have fallen. An additional 0.2 to 0.4 inches of rain have recently re-developed over the burn scar. Flash flooding is already occurring and could increase again with additional runoff.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the Gold Gulch, Ten Mile Creek and Cottonwood Creek. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
