The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for... Northwestern Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico... South Central Sierra County in south central New Mexico...
* Until 300 PM MDT.
* At 115 PM MDT, Another round of moderate to locally heavy rainfall is pushing across the Lake Valley area. This will result in additional runoff in arroyos and creeks that flow east towards Caballo and Arrey.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Arrey, Caballo, Derry, Palomas, Lower Animas Creek.
Affected arroyos and creeks include Tierra Blanca, Percha, Seco, and Las Animas Creeks, and Trujillo Canyon.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
