...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR SOUTH FACING SHORES OF ALL ISLANDS THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT... ...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR WEST FACING SHORES OF BIG ISLAND THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF ALL ISLANDS THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...
.South swell from Hurricane Lowell is expected to rise rapidly Monday, and peak Monday night bringing warning level surf to exposed shorelines. This swell may shift out of the southwest late Monday night. Due to the track of Lowell, a sharp gradient in swell is expected from west to east. This will bring damaging surf to portions of Kauai County and possibly Oahu. Swell energy is expected to drop off quickly on Tuesday.
A large, medium-period east swell from Tropical Storm Karina will also persist through at least Monday, producing advisory level surf along east facing shores.
* WHAT...Surf of 7 to 10 feet through Monday.
* WHERE...East facing shores of Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Big Island.
* WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
