The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 400 AM HST.

* At 1246 AM HST, local law enforcement reported 2 homes swept away due to intense rainfall over Naalehu several hours ago. Rain rates have now decreased over the area, but scattered heavy rain showers are still impacting the area with rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Flash flood impacts are still ongoing with numerous road closures across Kau District. Additional bands of heavy rain will be possible over the next few hours.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Wood Valley, Pahala, Punaluu Beach, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kawa Flats, Volcano, Naalehu, Glenwood, Hawaiian Ocean View, Mountain View and Waiohinu.
