.Large surf is peaking over the eastern end of the state this afternoon as Hurricane Lala passes over or just south of the Big Island. Surf for these locations will rapidly decrease overnight. For Oahu, surf peaks tonight and diminishes during Sunday while surf peaks early Sunday for Kauai.
* WHAT...For the Big Island, dangerously large surf of 18 to 22 feet for the windward coast and 25 to 30 feet for the southeast coast. For Maui, dangerously large surf of 14 to 18 feet.
* WHERE...East facing shores of Maui and Big Island.
* WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...High. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful currents. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make navigating the channels dangerous.
