The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 1000 PM HST.

* At 649 PM HST, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain bands from Hurricane Lala continuing to move onshore across windward and southeast Big Island. The heaviest rain rates were occurring over the Kau district near Pahala and South Point with rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour. Additional heavy rain bands are anticipated over the next several hours, County emergency management officials have reported numerous road closures due to flooding in the South Hilo, Puna, Kohala, and Kau Districts. Considerable Flash flooding is expected across windward and southeast Big Island, especially over the Kau District.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Kapaau, Honokaa, Volcano, Glenwood, Mountain View, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Wood Valley, Hawaiian Acres and Keaau.
