The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County
* Until 700 AM HST.
* At 333 AM HST, local law enforcement reported 2 homes swept away due to intense rainfall over Naalehu earlier in the night. Rain rates have decreased over the area since then, but scattered heavy rain showers are still impacting the area with rain rates of up to 1.5 inches per hour. Flash flood impacts are still ongoing with numerous road closures across Kau District. Additional bands of moderate to locally heavy rain will be possible over the next few hours.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Wood Valley, Pahala, Punaluu Beach, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kawa Flats, Volcano, Naalehu, Glenwood, Hawaiian Ocean View, Mountain View and Waiohinu.
