The National Weather Service in Tucson has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for... Southwestern Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...
* Until 430 PM MST.
* At 217 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sierra Vista, Hereford, Fort Huachuca, Palominas, Coronado National Memorial and Ramsey Canyon Preserve.
This includes the following highways... Route 90 between mile markers 324 and 336. Route 80 between mile markers 328 and 335. Route 92 between mile markers 323 and 345.
This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations... Moson Rd from HWY 90 and Hereford Rd.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
