Sunset scores, and a new radar engine
Sunrise & Sunset Quality scores the sky before it happens, and a rebuilt radar plays back faster and sharper on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Two big pieces in this one, and they pull in opposite directions: one is about looking up, the other is about looking down at a map.
Sunrise & Sunset Quality answers the question you actually have at 7pm: is tonight worth walking outside for? It scores the coming sunset on colour potential, twilight timing, sky clarity and cloud layers, and it shows you the reasoning rather than just a number. Recent results stick around afterwards, so you can tell it whether it got the call right — and upload a photo if it did.
Under that, the scoring itself got better at reading satellite cloud thickness, aerosols and storm activity, and stopped being fooled by thin cirrus veils.
Next-Generation Radar, in betaiOSMac
The radar was rebuilt. Playback is faster, the imagery is higher resolution, and the animation is genuinely fluid rather than stepping frame to frame.
The part you feel most is that it stays responsive while it runs — pan, zoom, scrub the timeline or switch layers mid-loop and it keeps up. On the Mac it loops continuously, and it releases the machine the moment you close the window instead of quietly burning cycles in the background.
It ships as a beta because it is new, not because it is unfinished.
