Forecast Bar on Apple Watch, in short
- What it is
- A full weather app for Apple Watch with current conditions, a live rain chart, hourly and daily forecasts, interactive charts, severe weather alerts and animated radar.
- Charts
- The Forecast Bar watch app charts ten data points — temperature, feels like, chance of rain, wind, humidity, dew point, UV index, cloud cover, pressure and visibility — for the next 24 hours and then day by day for about a week.
- Digital Crown
- Turning the Digital Crown moves through a chart hour by hour with a click at every hour; turning past the last hour rolls into the next day.
- Independence
- The Forecast Bar watch app fetches its own forecast, so it keeps working when the iPhone app isn't open.
- Subscription
- The watch app is included with Forecast Bar Silver or Gold on iPhone — it is not a separate purchase. Radar on the watch is a Gold feature.
- Requires
- Apple Watch running watchOS 10 or later. The charts require Forecast Bar 11.7 or later.
Charts you scrub with the Digital Crown.
Open Charts and the forecast becomes a full-screen curve. Turn the Digital Crown and a dot rides it hour by hour — a click at every hour, the reading following along above. Keep turning past midnight and the chart rolls into tomorrow, and on through the week. Or drag a finger across it: the reading stays put when you lift, so your finger is never covering the number you wanted.
- Ten data points, switched from a row of buttons under the chart
- The chance of rain drawn behind the temperature curve
- Night shaded in, fading around sunrise and sunset
- The same curves and colors as the charts on iPhone
Wind with direction. UV in its real colors.
Each data point is drawn the way it should be read. Wind carries arrows along the curve showing which way it's blowing, with gusts as a second line. UV index uses the standard green-to-violet bands. Chance of rain is bars colored by type — rain, snow or a mix. Everything follows your units and your 12- or 24-hour clock.
- Wind direction arrows and gusts on the wind chart
- UV bars in the standard UV index colors
- Precipitation bars colored by rain, snow or mix
- A summary for the whole day when you're not scrubbing
Conditions, rain, and alerts at the top.
The main screen is one scroll: current conditions with today's high and low, a live chart of precipitation intensity while rain or snow is on the way, the hours, the next twelve hours as a chart, the days, and every current data point. When a severe weather alert is active for where you are, a red pill appears at the top — tap it to read the whole alert on the watch.
- Live precipitation chart, colored by type
- Severe weather alerts you can read in full
- Tap any hour or day for its detail screen
- Reorder the sections, on the watch or from your iPhone
Tap a day, see its whole shape.
Each day's detail screen opens with a chart of that day, then the narrative forecast and the details — sunrise and sunset, moon phase, chance and amount of precipitation, wind, UV, cloud cover and humidity. Swipe left or right to move between days without going back.
- A chart of the day on every day's screen
- Thirteen values on every hour's screen
- Swipe between hours and days in place
- Your saved locations, synced from your iPhone
Animated radar, zoomed with the Crown.
Radar on the watch plays roughly the last hour of real observations and the next two hours of forecast, centered on you. Tap to pause; turn the Digital Crown to zoom through six named levels, from your street out to most of the country.
- Past and forecast frames in one loop
- Digital Crown zoom, Street to Country
- Your position marked on the map
- Included with Forecast Bar Gold
