⌚️ The Watch App

Forecast Bar on Apple Watch is a full weather app on your wrist: current conditions, a live rain chart, hourly and daily forecasts, severe weather alerts, and — for Gold subscribers — animated radar. It also powers a full set of watch face complications.

The watch app requires a Silver or Gold subscription — see Plans & Subscriptions. If you aren't subscribed yet, the watch shows a subscription screen instead of the forecast, with three ways forward:

• Open on Phone — prompts your iPhone to open Forecast Bar, which syncs your subscription over to the watch.
• Sign in with Apple — if you've already set up sync on your iPhone, signing in here pulls your subscription, locations, and settings straight to the watch.
• Sync Settings — opens the sync sheet described below.

The screen also shows your current subscription tier and expiration date at the bottom, which is handy when contacting support.

The main screen

The main screen is a single scrolling view made of sections. The default order is Current, Precipitation (only while it's raining), Custom Data Points, Hourly, Daily, and Data Points — and you can reorder or configure them from your iPhone (see Customizing from your iPhone below).

Current

The top of the screen shows the current temperature (with a smaller "Feels N°" line whenever the feels-like temperature differs), a large condition icon (with night variants after dark), today's high (↑) and low (↓), and a one-line text summary of current conditions. Tap anywhere on this row to jump into the hour-by-hour detail screen at the current hour.

Weather alerts

When a severe weather alert is active for your location, a red alert pill appears in the Current section. A single alert shows its name (for example, a heat advisory) — tap it to read the full alert with its expiration time and summary. Multiple alerts show a count like "3 Alerts" — tap to see the list, then tap any alert for details. You can hide this pill entirely from your iPhone if you'd rather not see alerts on the watch. Precipitation

This section appears only while precipitation is expected or falling. It's an animated bar chart of upcoming precipitation intensity, with one gently pulsing bar per reading and time labels along the bottom. Bar colors match the precipitation type — rain, snow, or a wintry mix.

Custom Data Points

An optional row of three data points of your choosing — off by default, turned on from your iPhone. The three slots default to Wind Speed, UV Index, and Cloud Cover. Wind Speed shows a green arrow that points in the direction the wind is blowing; Moon Phase shows an icon for the current phase.

Hourly

A strip of upcoming hours you can drag sideways to scroll. Each column shows the time, a condition icon, the temperature, and a bottom line — by default the precipitation chance (blue, or purple when it's snow), or any other data point you pick on your iPhone. Sunrise and sunset appear as their own columns with a sun icon. Tap any hour to open its detail screen.

Daily

The same kind of sideways-scrolling strip, one column per day: day name, condition icon, high (bold), low, and precipitation chance. Tap any day to open its detail screen.

Data Points

A two-row grid of current data points — icon plus value with units — that you can drag sideways to see more.

Hour and day detail screens

Tapping an hour or a day opens a dedicated detail screen, and you can swipe left or right to move to the next or previous hour or day without going back. When you're scrolled down, a round badge briefly flashes the new hour or day so you don't lose your place.

• Hour details show the time, icon, temperature and feels-like, then a labeled list of thirteen values: Temperature, Feels Like, Precip Chance, Wind Speed, Wind Direction, UV Index, Cloud Cover, Humidity, Dew Point, Heat Index, Wind Chill, Visibility, and Pressure. Sunrise and sunset hours get their own screen with the exact time and a large icon.
• Day details show the date, icon, high and low, a narrative summary of the day, then labeled rows for Sunrise, Sunset, Moon Phase, Precip Chance (with expected amount), Wind, UV Index, Cloud Cover, and Humidity.

The toolbar

Two buttons live in the corners of the main screen:

• Location list (top left) — a list button that opens your locations: Current Location first, then every location synced from your iPhone. Tap one to switch the whole watch app to that location. If you haven't signed in yet, this button opens the Sign in with Apple sheet instead.
• Radar (top right) — opens Radar on the Watch, a Gold feature.

Refresh, Sync Settings, and Sign Out

Scroll to the bottom of the main screen for three buttons:

• Refresh — clears the cached forecast and fetches fresh weather immediately.
• Sync Settings — opens a sheet that waits for settings from your phone ("Open Forecast Bar on your phone and refresh the weather"), with a Sync Data button to request them. When the sync arrives, the sheet closes, the weather refreshes, and your complications reload. This is also the screen that must be open when you press Sync Now on the iPhone side.
• Sign Out — appears only when you're signed in; signs the watch out of your synced account.

Signing in with Apple

Signing in connects the watch to the locations and settings you've synced from your iPhone. Set up sync first in Forecast Bar → Settings → Sync & Alerts on your iPhone (see iPhone Settings), then sign in with Apple on the watch — from the subscription screen or the location-list button. Once signed in, your saved locations appear in the watch's location list and your subscription carries over.

Customizing from your iPhone

Open Settings → Watch → Watch App → Customize on your iPhone to control what the watch app shows:

When you leave the Customize screen, your iPhone sends the new settings to the watch. If they don't appear right away, use the Sync Settings button at the bottom of the watch app.
